For a major French sawmill, we delivered, installed and started up a drying plant, model ESV, vacuum ventilated, suitable for drying oak boards.

The installation

We transported with our vehicles and organized the unloading by crane of the plant on site. We have also provided a technical control cabin for the plant, which is connected to the plant, so that the operator can work safely even during the cold months.

Oak drying

Oak is a wood that must be carefully dried to avoid the typical phenomenon of "case hardening".

Our client deals mainly with oak, but also ash, beech, larch, pine and fir.

But it is French oak, the renowned wood used for the production of the famous barriques, that requires the greatest attention in drying.

Drying too quickly would in fact lead to the formation of moisture gradients through the thickness of the boards. The result would be a surface that is too dry, with a still wet core, and consequently the formation of surface cracks.

Our dryers are equipped with a control that constantly monitors the climatic parameters of the chamber, making sure that there are no humidity gradients and defects.
